Question 1

Is CalmChat anonymous?

Accepted Answer

Yes. CalmChat supports anonymous chat sessions — no account required to start a conversation. Your chat data is stored locally on your device. You can create an optional account to sync your journal and mood history across devices.

Question 2

How does CalmChat detect crisis situations?

Accepted Answer

CalmChat's AI monitors conversations for signs of distress or crisis. If a crisis is detected, the app surfaces immediate access to the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline and other emergency resources. The 'Get Help Now' option is always accessible from any screen.

Question 3

Is CalmChat a replacement for therapy?

Accepted Answer

No. CalmChat is a wellness companion — not a licensed mental health service or a replacement for professional therapy. It is designed to support everyday emotional wellbeing, stress management, and self-reflection. If you are in crisis, please contact the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988) or emergency services.

Question 4

How does the AI chat work in CalmChat?

Accepted Answer

CalmChat uses Claude AI (by Anthropic) to power its wellness conversations. The AI is guided by therapeutic conversation frameworks and is trained to be supportive, non-judgmental, and safe. It uses context from your recent messages and stored memory facts to personalize its responses.

Question 5

Is my data private and secure?

Accepted Answer

Yes. All iOS app data (chat, journal, breathing sessions) is stored locally on your device. CalmChat uses end-to-end secure connections for all API calls. We do not sell or share your personal data. See our privacy policy for full details.

Question 6
